In this guide to OSRS Soul Wars guide, we cover everything you need to know.
You’ll discover everything you need to know about this newest OSR minigame with this OSRS guide.
HOW DOES SOUL WARS WORK?
Team vs team minigame Soul Wars is a new addition to OSRS that has many similarities to Castle Wars. The goal is not to capture flags, but to kill your opponent’s avatar ten times in a row.
RS3 Soul Wars was introduced in February 2009 to Runescape before EOC. Soul Wars was a popular game in Runescape’s early days, and many of OSRS’ nostalgic players remember it. Soul Wars was released to OSRS on January 6th, 2021, following a poll vote in which the majority of the player base approved.
What Are the Benefits of Playing Soul Wars in OSRS?
The rewards in Soul Wars make it an appealing minigame for players.
- Players gain exp as they play.
- Nightmare Zone can be replaced by Imbueing.
- The spoils of war.
Most soul wars players are there for the XP. By trading in Soul Wars Zeal tokens for experience in Magic, Ranged, Attack, Strength, Defence, Hitpoints, and Prayer, players gain experience in these areas.
This makes Soul Wars a free, alternative method for training prayers.
If you are working on a pure PK build, you can also use Soul Wars for prayer training.
Soul Wars was commonly used on pre-eoc Runescape accounts without any other stats to get 99 hitpoints. OSRS Soul Wars begin at 40 combat levels, so this is no longer possible.

Requirements for Soul Wars Guide
Soul Wars requires the following stats in order to play:
- At least 40 combat levels (ideally higher)
- At least 500 total levels
As a result of pre-eOC bot activity in Soul Wars, these measures were put into place.
Aside from that, Soul Wars is only playable on three worlds: 320, 350, and 535.
Getting To Soul Wars In OSRS
It is very easy to get to Soul Wars. Using the minigame teleport to Soul Wars is the easiest way to get there.
Choose minigame (the red logo) in your quest menu, then choose Soul Wars from the list, then teleport to the Soul Wars location.
In addition to using the portal located in Edgeville and just west of the Grand Exchange, you can also reach Soul Wars through the portal.
You can teleport to Edgeville with a ring of glory or combat bracelet.
What are the rules of Soul Wars?
A lot of the gameplay elements of Soul Wars are similar to those found in Castle Wars. In this game, two teams face off against each other, each with an avatar they can takedown. During the game, you must kill your opponent’s avatar ten times in a row in order to win.
If you collect fragments on the battlefield, the avatar will weaken. Ghosts and other players can be killed for this to happen. Each fragment must be placed in the center of the obelisk during the minigame. As a result, the avatar of your opponent will be weakened, making it easier to defeat it.
Start of the game
When you first start playing Soul Wars, you’ll have to complete a brief tutorial that will help you get to know the game.
After that, you will be able to play Soul Wars either with your clan or by yourself.
It’s important to remember that Soul Wars can only be played in Worlds 320, 350, and 535.
The game offers two lobby modes: one for clans, the other for solo players.
It is imperative that you pick the Western Lobby if you are playing solo.
Setup for Soul Wars Gear
In Soul Wars, as in Castle Wars, Ice Barrage is a very common type of attack, so you should bring armor with high magical defense bonuses.
A few examples of these items are Karils and Black D’hides.
You can fend off enemies with an Ice Barrage if you have access to it within Soul Wars.
We strongly recommend bringing one of these weapon types: AGS, DDS, Claws.
Setup for Soul Wars inventory
It’s best to have your inventory empty before entering Soul Wars, except for gear switches or runes.
The following items can be found in your inventory when playing Soul Wars:
Bandages | – Heals 20% of your health – Can be used on teammates to heal them |
Potions | Potions work similarly to combat potions and will increase your combat stats. |
Barricades | Can be used to block enemies from entering. Barricades can be killed with weapons or through an explosive potion. |
Explosives | Can be used to destroy a barricade instantly |
Inside your base you will find bandages and potions. Just outside your base are barricades and explosives.
Ideally, you should keep 2 potions in your inventory, and the rest in bandages. Because explosives occupy an unnecessary inventory slot, players do not typically use them.
Barricades are another way to hold off enemies.
Getting Started With Soul Wars
There is only one objective to Soul Wars: to weaken the opponent’s avatar by offering fragments at the Soul Obelisk in the middle of the map.
Both teams will constantly fight for the one soul obelisk as there is only one.
Players with higher levels will destroy the enemy avatars.
The task of each member of your team is to prioritize activities based on their level of combat.
Identifying where you’re most needed is also part of your job.
Low-level gameplay recommended
You will primarily be busy farming and running obelisks with your fragments as you are a low level.
- Focus on killing ghosts rather than PKing.
- Run often to sacrifice fragments at the obelisk.
- You can bury the NPC bones you kill in your graveyard after you kill them
Playing at high levels is recommended
When you are at the top, you need to figure out where your team needs you most.
- Make it your mission to protect your team’s soul.
- Strike back at the enemy avatar by defending your team’s avatar.
- Players should never be killed unnecessarily!
