Major League Baseball, also known as MLB, is a professional baseball organization and a significant professional sports league worldwide. Some stars have become the top MLB picks today that many punters can rely on to provide consistent results.
There are certain players in Major League baseball with less expectation of making a breakout early this year. Still, surprisingly, their performance has been able to elevate them, thus making them outshine their contemporaries with their stats this year.
Some stars in the league have had a breakout in the league thus putting them in the spotlight of the game. Below is the list of players of seven Major League Baseball breakout stars for 2022.
Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy is a 27 years old player who has to defend offensively and has also shown great offensively but still hasn’t attained his peak potential.
In the season before 2022, based on the 119 games he played, he got .216/.306/.405 plus 17 home runs and 59 RBI in 448 PAs.
Murphy has proved himself a potentially better power-hitting catcher in the American League. We believe the player has more power and enough that he is yet to tap into.
C.J. Cron
It has been an incredible experience for skeptics as they have wondered how Cron has been able to maximize his potential after having significant knee surgery a couple of years back. The 32-year-old player has confirmed his solid status with the Colorado Rockies as he has had career-high totals in RBI (95), runs (73), and homers (28), as well as the adoption of the universal DH 2 years after his surgery.
Andres Gimenez
Andres Gimenez is a 23 year old player who made his way to Cleveland through the Fransisco Lindor trade seasons ago. Gimenez has shown great potential and is experiencing quite the breakout.
Notably, Swiping 15 bags and ranking in the 94th percentile for sprint speed, the middle infielder has flashed his power homering 14 times while also adding speed. The offensive breakout has been quite impressive. He has secured himself a place in the plans for the Guardians.
Dansby Swanson
Swanson has performed tremendously well this season in MLB, and he was the 18th-placed shortstop this spring. The player had a fantastic time in 2021(.248,27HR, 88RBI) and hasn’t relented.
This season he has significantly increased his overall game by bettering his batting avg. by 35 points. In addition, he maintains his power, which beat his previous career high regarding stolen bases at 17. It is to be noted that Trea Turner is the player to rank ahead of him among shortstops in fantasy value. He has secured himself a spot as a free agent and will be a top option regardless of where he is playing.
Julio Rodriguez
Julio Rodriguez is 22 years old and made Seattle’s opening-day roster. Upon entering, drafters were quite unsure of the level of impact he might make as a young player with little to no experience above class AA.
The player posted a .205/.284/.260 slash line back in April but was able to steal nine bases in nine attempts. Eventually, his power matched his speed to the level where he’s on the verge of becoming this season’s first member of the 25-homer, 25-steal club.
Spencer Strider
Strider is also an MLB player who is a breakout star this season; the 24 years old has earned a spot in the Atlanta bullpen from spring training. He has always pitched in a low-leverage situation, but he gained recognition with a May 6 appearance where he struck out eight in four shutout innings.
The player, who has a 2.69 ERA and 0.97 WHIP, has had five games with double-digit strikeouts, which includes a season-high 16 over eight scoreless frames against Colorado on September 1. It is to be noted that an upside (13.6k/9) of such could put him in the third or second round of drafts next season.
Felix Bautista
Bautista took the role of Jorge Lopez after the Orioles parted with him; ever since he took the role back on August 2, the player has converted all nine of his save opportunities with a 1.53 ERA, 0.68 WHIP, and a 24/3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 17⅔ innings. Bautista is relentless and aims higher than his current position.
